The Institute for Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, Research, and Education (InSPIRE), based in Panama City, Florida, will be hiring the position of Inspire Executive Director

Responsibilities As the Executive Director, this individual will be responsible for providing oversight and leadership for a new multi-disciplinary applied research program and associated facilities to serve the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors. This will include working very closely with the FSU Vice President for Research, FSU Provost, the Deans of FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and FSU Panama City, other senior leadership team members and deans. The Executive Director will be a leader for FSU in Northwest Florida. The Executive Director will conduct high level interactions with funding agencies in defense, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing sectors; identify, connect and secure funding opportunities within the institute to researchers, educators and other professionals in Panama City and Tallahassee; provide leadership to ensure appropriate research and other staff are engaged in the broad array of projects and programs within the institute; engage with local communities, industry, and education partners to understand workforce needs and develop programs that address these needs effectively; work in collaboration with partners to develop and implement InSPIRE-led programs for innovation-based regional economic development; and be responsible for local oversight for operations.Qualifications Academic doctorate or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance is required.Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in applied research or development in defense, advanced manufacturing, or aerospace sectors.
- A PhD, or an equivalent degree in a STEM field is preferred.
- A strong and sustained record of research scholarship through scholarly publications and presentations to the scientific and technical communities and/or a registration as a professional engineer is preferred.Demonstrated record of high-level leadership of a complex research organization in the defense, aerospace, and/or advanced manufacturing sector.
Demonstrated record of working with federal and state agencies and the private sector and securing extramural funding from these groups in support of applied research, technology innovation and deployment, and workforce development programs.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent skills in team building, creating alliances, and leading complex, multi-faceted, organizations.Contact Info
