The Florida Institute for Child Welfare is housed at the Florida State University College of Social Work. The purpose of the institute is to advance the well-being of children and families by improving the performance of child protection and child welfare services through research, policy analysis, evaluation, and leadership development.
Responsibilities
This fellowship is designed to support early career scholars who have an interest in child welfare research and policy, with a focus on academic innovation.
The Fellow will:
- Be supervised and mentored by Dr. Burcu Izci, Assistant Director of Research & Evaluation, Academic Innovation.
- Have extensive opportunities to network with child welfare policymakers, Florida Department of Children and Families' leadership, community-based care agencies, and statewide faculty and research affiliates.
- Gain direct experience in translational research and program evaluation.
- Support the Institute in developing data-driven policy recommendations for state legislators.
- Assist with or leading ongoing quantitative and qualitative research, on-going program evaluation, and writing and reviewing reports.
- Fellows will be required to assist with additional research and evaluation projects relevant to academic innovation and child welfare, propose and lead a relevant research study, write for publication, and engage in research dissemination.
The primary responsibilities for the 25-26 academic year will be supporting evaluations of the Institute's Academic Innovation program at the Institute's GROW Center.

Qualifications
Applicants must have received a PhD from an accredited graduate program in social work or related field within the past five years of the appointment start date.
If the applicant is a current student, a confirmation of eligibility must be submitted. Exceptions can be made on an individual basis when justifiable and accompanied by supporting documents with prior approval from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with innovative technologies and/or simulations in social work education of related field.

Anticipated Salary Range
The proposed salary for this position is low $60,000, commensurate with education and experience, to be paid on a bi-weekly schedule.

The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm.
