Responsibilities
Scholars will build their own research portfolio and collaborate with peer scholars, CPSHE faculty, and professionals at FSU and partnering institutions such as other Universities, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), SAMSHA, NIH and community organizations. Scholars will be mentored in NIH F32 and/or NIH K01 applications. This is a full-time appointment with a salary range of $61,800 to $70,000, commensurate with experience.
The CPSHE faculty team is interdisciplinary including Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Medicine, Statistics, Social Work, and other disciplines. The team has many ongoing projects spanning a wide range of health disparity topics and key populations:
Topics include but aren’t limited to: HIV, sexual health, mental health, stigma, healthy aging, cognitive health, cardiometabolic health, digital health, and substance use.
Populations include but aren’t limited to: LGBTQIA+, Bi+ (bisexual, pansexual and other polysexual identities and experiences), Native American/Indigenous, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Black/African American/African Diaspora, unhoused, immigrant/migrant populations, intravenous drug users, and sex workers.
We are looking for folks who fit one or more of the following specialized skill clusters (note: it is not required for one individual to meet all skill clusters):
Cluster 1: Quantitative or mixed methods & dissemination
- Training in applied statistics (multiple regression or more advanced)
- Training and experience in quantitative survey methodology
- Publishing record in quantitative or mixed-methods analyses in peer-reviewed journals
Cluster 2: Community Interventions
- Training or experience in community-engaged research
- Training or experience in intervention adaptation or development
- Training or experience in clinical trials including behavioral intervention trials
- Publishing record of community intervention, clinical trials, or related work in peer-reviewed outlets
Cluster 3: Digital Innovation & Artificial Intelligence
- Training or experience in innovative digital data collection methods
- Training or experience in innovative analytic methods that leverage machine learning and related techniques
- Training or experience in Artificial Intelligence including AI intervention development or AI programming
- Publishing record of digital health or related topics in peer-reviewed outlets
Cluster 4: Geospatial and Multilevel quantitative methodologies
- Training and experience in geospatial and/or multilevel data collection
- Training or experience in geospatial and/or multilevel data analytics
- Publishing record of geospatial or multilevel work in peer-reviewed outlets
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree
- Training and/or experience with data collection & study protocols including ethics approvals
- Experiencing publishing in peer-reviewed journals including co-authored manuscripts
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Time management
- Comfort with and ability to learn software such as word processing, spreadsheets, reference management, and analytic software
Preferred Qualifications
General Preferred Skills (not required to apply, but highly preferred):
- Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Haitian Creole or Vietnamese language skills (Listening, Speaking and Writing)
- Experience working on projects based in the U.S., Panama, Brazil, Vietnam and/or neighboring countries
- Experience with advanced statistical methods including network analysis, hierarchical modeling, structural equation modeling, and genetic analysis
- Training and/or experience in grant writing (pilot grants, government grants, or foundations
- Experience or training in community-engaged research including Community-Based Participatory Research for underrepresented populations (can include experiences working in community programming, organizing, or advocacy)
- Experience or training in qualitative methodologies including data collection, analysis and dissemination
- Experience mentoring junior scientists such as undergraduate students and graduate students
- A background in nursing or nursing science
