Summary
The Research Technician will support all aspects of research in the
Woodfield Laboratory. This position is solely based in the lab and
will be a full-time research position. The technician will work
closely with all members of the lab in this team research
environment.
Job Duties
- Performs lab maintenance that includes ordering supplies and
reagents, autoclaving materials, and lab inventory.
- Works on maintenance of all mice work that includes changing
cages, giving drugs, and documentation of surgical procedures.
- Takes care of cells in an aseptic tissue culture environment
that includes growing cells, treating them with drugs, measuring
their response to drugs, and harvesting them for DNA, RNA, and
protein.
- Participates in DNA, RNA, and protein isolation from tissue and
cell specimens.
- Supports submission of abstracts, grants, and manuscripts.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four
years of related experience may substitute for degree
requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Cell Biology or related field in the life sciences.
- Has prior working knowledge with laboratory assays and
applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are
desirable.
- Being detail oriented, with a knack for time and resource
management and multitasking, is critical for the success of this
position.
