Position Summary:A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of CJ Tsai at the University of Georgia to lead a research project on metabolic engineering of triterpenes in non-glandular trichomes. The incumbent will employ CRISPR gene editing, RNA-Seq, metabolite profiling, and histology in research, and will collaborate with other researchers to explore single cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, and gene network regulation. The individual will also gain experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:PhD in plant molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related fields, with hands-on experience in genome editing and metabolic engineering
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :Background and experience in molecular genetics and synthetic biology, evidenced by relevant peer-reviewed publications. Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate among project team members and external collaborators are necessary.
Physical Demands:Sit for long periods of time and lift 20 pounds. This position includes some work with hazardous chemicals.
