Duties/Responsibilities:Evaluate the quality, adequacy, and fitness of purpose of the natural hazards data sources in Task 1.1. The evaluation shall include at minimum:
- creation date
- geographic coverage extent
- resolution
- data type (vector, raster)
- coordinate system/projection
- datum (geographic horizontal/vertical, tidal), and
- unit of measure

Position Summary:Through the first ever Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA) between an academic institution and Navy Region Southeast, the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (IRIS) will work to help the United States Navy ensure the security of our national assets, infrastructure, and missions. This position will work to understand how climate change is impacting Navy installations across the southeast and to enhance the Navy’s resilience to these stressors. Researchers in the Department of Geography and Atmospheric Sciences program have been tasked with identifying geohazards and spatial mapping techniques for the project.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:Ph.D in Geography, GIScience, atmospheric or related sciences
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :GIS, GIS and/or Python Programming, Familiarity with large geospatial datasets and climate models.
