Preclinical Faculty, Periodontics/Dental Hygiene (Evergreen
position)
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Responsible for providing didactic, pre-clinical periodontal
content and will supervise pre-clinical student learning
experiences in the discipline. Pacific faculty engage in teaching,
scholarship and service.

Responsibilities include any of the following:
I. Teaching Curriculum
- Didactic instruction involving periodontal pre-clinical
content.
- Provide simulation exercises to support the pre-clinical
courses.
- Participate in outcomes assessment, including student and peer
evaluation, to improve curricular content and presentation.
Il. Collaboration and Service
- Engage broadly in other school, university, professional, and
community service opportunities.
- In addition to the traditional expectations for faculty
members, the culture of humanism and collaboration is especially
important.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Requirements for a comprehensive periodontal examination.
- Universal and area-specific instrumentation of teeth.
- Pre-clinical teaching methodology.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
Licenses/Certifications
- Active RDH license
- Valid CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients.

Experience:
- Previous teaching or practice experience is preferred.
- Minimum of one year practice experience preferred.

- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse
backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity,
and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices
and knowledge in their work.
Physical Requirements:

- Faculty should have sufficient motor function to execute
movements essential to teaching and demonstration.
- Must be able to operate controls, use high-speed or low-speed
dental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, and use hand
instrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures.
