Research:
The selected candidate will conduct research within the UM6P African Research Centre on Air Quality and Climate (ARC-Air). Collaborating with students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars worldwide, the Centre is committed to training a new generation of African Atmospheric Scientists and faculty members. Research endeavors primarily focus on experimental and Modelling aspects. A notable characteristic of the Centre s research is the strong collaboration among all members. We invite applications for an Assistant Professor position in the field of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
Candidate Profile:
We seek a dynamic and innovative scholar who is committed to advancing research and teaching in the multidisciplinary area of Indoor Air Quality, with an emphasis on indoor chemical processes, health, environmental, and technological aspects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with diverse research themes, including but not limited to, air quality in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ventilation systems, the impact of air quality on human health, and sustainable solutions for improving indoor environments.
The successful candidate will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of new techniques for indoor air quality studies and policy-making. Responsibilities include initiating and developing high-quality research, publishing in leading journals, and presenting at international conferences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct cutting-edge research in indoor air quality, with potential areas including but not limited to air pollutants, ventilation systems, building design, environmental health, and sustainable indoor environments.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses related to indoor air quality, environmental engineering, and/or public health.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of IAQ.
- Seek external funding through competitive research grants to support IAQ research and education.
- Contribute to department and university service activities, including committee work and outreach.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Postdoctoral experience or equivalent in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise and research accomplishments in indoor air quality, environmental health, or a related area.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of current regulatory standards and emerging technologies related to IAQ.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
