The AGC is seeking to appoint a Professor in Gut Microbiome Sciences to advance research on the role of microbial communities in health, disease, and environmental interactions. The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in host metabolism, immunity, and overall well-being, offering transformative potential for biomedical, agricultural, and environmental applications. This position will contribute to cutting-edge research on microbiome-host interactions, microbial ecology, and microbiome-based innovations for health and sustainability.
The successful candidate will integrate microbiome research into interdisciplinary programs, fostering collaboration in areas such as microbial engineering, metabolic health, nutrition, and biotechnology. Their work will contribute to advancements in human and animal health, food security, and biotechnological applications across Morocco and Africa.

- Qualifications & Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A strong research record in gut microbiome studies, including microbial ecology, host-microbiome interactions, and microbiome-based interventions.
- An outstanding publication record in microbiome research, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Proven ability to pursue an independent research program and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong motivation to develop microbiome-based solutions for health, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities encompass:
- Supervising graduate students and postdocs in the fields of Gut Microbiomes, Animal Microbiomes and OMICS Sciences.
- Developing collaborative research programs in Gut Microbiomes and Animal Microbiomes for potential industrial and medical applications.
- Writing grants.
- Supporting institutional research and academic programs and actively participating in institutional activities.
