The AGC is seeking to appoint a Professor in Biomathematics and Biostatistics to advance research and education in numerical and quantitative methods for biological and environmental sciences. Biomathematics and biostatistics are essential for modeling complex biological systems, analyzing large-scale data, and developing statistical tools for ecological, biomedical, and biotechnological applications. This position will support interdisciplinary research by integrating mathematical and statistical approaches into studies on biodiversity, microbiomes, health sciences, genomics, and environmental sustainability.
The successful candidate will contribute to methodological advancements in areas such as ecological modeling, epidemiology, computational biology, and quantitative genetics, fostering collaborations across multiple disciplines.

- Qualifications & Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Biomathematics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- A strong research record in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and quantitative approaches applied to biological or environmental systems.
- An outstanding publication record in biomathematics, biostatistics, machine learning, or related fields.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Proven ability to pursue an independent research program and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong motivation to develop quantitative solutions for biological and environmental challenges, including ecosystem modeling, disease dynamics, and bioinformatics.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities encompass:
- Supervising graduate students and postdocs in the fields of Enzymology and Macromolecular sciences, bioengineering, biotechnology, synthetic biology.
- Developing collaborative research programs in Macromolecular sciences and synthetic biology for potential industrial application.
- Writing grants.
- Supporting institutional research and academic programs and actively participating in institutional activities.
Eligibility:
- Be a professor in a recognised university.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry/biomedical chemistry, biotechnology, or related fields.
- Postdoctoral experience in enzymology and structural biology particularly X-ray crystallography.
- Demonstrated expertise in Enzymology and Macromolecular Sciences evidenced by publications in top-rated journals.
- Must have supervised not less than 10 verifiable PhD and MSc candidates.
- Experienced in grantsmanship with track record of winning grants and successfully completed funded research projects.
- Have a strong record of inventions with proves of patents or other intellectual property rights.
- Have active networks of fruitful international collaborations.
- Strong communication skills suitable for diverse audiences demonstrated by presentations at scientific conferences.
- Demonstrated commitment to both research, training, and mentorship.
