Department Information
The University of West Georgia Tanner Health System School of Nursing strives for ¿educational excellence in a caring environment¿ with over 550 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. SON instructional facilities are state of the art including spectacular lab and simulation spaces in Carrollton and Newnan. Undergraduate programs include a pre-licensure BSN program and a 100% online RN to BSN program.Graduate programs, ranked for 11 consecutive years by US News and World Report, are also online including an MSN program (Nurse Educator Track or Health Systems Leadership Track with an option for the AACN Clinical Nurse Leader Role), as well as an innovative EdD in Nursing Education program.
Job Summary
The THSON non-tenure-track position is a 10-month academic-year faculty appointment with a start date of August 1st, 2025. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate BSN students in varied settings. Applicants must hold a master¿s degree in nursing with a clinical specialization focus, have a strong clinical practice background, and an active RN eNLC license to practice nursing in Georgia (or eligible). Preferred qualifications include certification in a specialty area, a doctorate in nursing or related field, a record of accomplishments in working with diverse populations of students, undergraduate clinical, laboratory, and didactic teaching experience, and evidence of a scholarly program broadly defined.
Responsibilities
The non-tenure track faculty is committed to creating a culture of quality caring that fosters caring collaborative relationships between teachers and learners and is responsible for advancing nursing education in three areas
Teaching 80%: Non-tenure track faculty have a primary assignment in teaching undergraduate BSN students in varied settings including online, traditional classroom, simulation, laboratory, and clinical settings. The non-tenure track faculty who has a doctoral degree may be assigned to teach or advise graduate students.
Service 10%: service to the school/university/profession/community include serving on committees, engaging in student success activities and events, and community service based on expertise.
Scholarship 10%: faculty scholarly program is broadly defined to include pedagogical innovations, research & publications, and continuous improvement projects.
:Required Qualifications
Master¿s degree in nursing with a clinical specialization focus and/or an informatics, nursing education, or nursing leadership focus.
Strong clinical practice background. An active RN eNLC license to practice nursing in Georgia (or eligible).
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include certification in a specialty area, a doctorate in nursing, a record of accomplishments in working with diverse populations of students, undergraduate clinical, laboratory, and didactic teaching experience, and evidence of a scholarly program broadly defined.
Proposed Salary
$72,800 annually
