Position Summary:The Director of AV and Digital Platforms for School of Medicine IT will perform a critical leadership role in advancing the UNC School of Medicine mission by implementing strategic imperatives, advising on key department-wide decisions, and being responsible for the effective management of financial and human resources in the AV and Digital Platforms team. This role is pivotal in overseeing web design and support, particularly on WordPress, as well as managing media services. Reporting to the DCIO, the Director is responsible for high-level decision making that sets the overall direction and goals for the unit in alignment with SOM. Key Responsibilities: * Lead the AV design and support for educational and administrative spaces, ensuring high-quality audio and visual experiences. * Manage digital signage, room scheduling systems, and provide support for AV and streaming during events. * Oversee the web design and support functions, with a focus on WordPress platform management. * Direct media services, including production and distribution of digital media content. * Collaborate closely with the communications and planning departments to support the administrative mission of the School of Medicine. * Implement project management best practices to ensure timely and successful completion of AV and digital projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Masters’ and 2-4 years’ experience; or Bachelors and 3-5 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Progressive experience in the field of Information Technology which includes strategic development and leadership/supervisory/management. Demonstrated leadership experience, being able to set IT strategic direction in an educational setting and work effectively with various departments. Experience with project management, particularly in AV infrastructure and digital platform integration. Experience in media production and website management, with a focus on WordPress. Expertise in digital signage, room scheduling, and event support systems. Ability to promote teamwork and develop IT support processes to enhance the customer experience. Excellent verbal and written communication ability. High attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Experience supporting a bring-your-own-device environment. Experience in telecommunications voice/voicemail support. Experience supporting Apple OS X 10, IOS, and Android platforms. Experience using an incident tracking system. Experience working in a higher-education or medical setting.
