About the Role
The University is seeking two Senior Lecturers in First Nations Health to provide leadership in performing high quality research and delivering excellence in teaching and learning across the suite of Public Health topics and courses in the College of Medicine and Public Health. The successful candidates will contribute to strengthening Indigenous Education in our Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Public Health programs, and will contribute to improving health outcomes for Indigenous Australians through research.
These positions are available as balanced Teaching and Research (Academic) and Teaching Specialist (Academic) positions.
The positions, located within the Public Health discipline, will support providing students with a transformational education that equips them with the skills and knowledge to contribute to preventing disease, reducing inequities, and building healthy Indigenous communities. The key responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to;
- Undertaking a lead role in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of lectures, tutorials, assessments, curricula and other teaching strategies, including placement education for topics, primarily within Public Health
- Undertaking topic coordination and course coordination, particularly of the First Nations Health Topics within Public Health teaching programs
- Making a significant contribution to ethical, high quality and innovative research in public health through activities such as preparing high quality grant applications, planning and implementing research projects and preparing high quality and impactful research outputs that align with areas of research interest, strength and focus within Public Health and the College ((Teaching and Research balanced positions)
- Mentoring and developing early career researchers in Public Health and the College. ((Teaching and Research balanced positions)
- Leading, supervising and participating in high-performing multi-disciplinary teams with an education and/or research focus and contributing to the development of a respectful, trusting and collaborative working environment.

About You
The successful candidates will demonstrate the following key capabilities:
- A higher degree in Education, Public Health or relevant discipline (or equivalent experience and progress towards a PhD) and evidence of cultural activity which prioritises Indigenous knowledges and practices requiring community cultural recognition
- Demonstrated evidence of a research track record (appropriate for career stage) in a Public Health-related area, including evidence of successful grant applications and high quality publications (Teaching and Research balanced position applicants)
- Evidence of the ability to deliver teaching using a variety of approaches including use of e-learning platforms for teaching purposes
- Evidence of the ability to develop and review teaching curricula and participate in quality enhancement and accreditation activities
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including an ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students, and industry nationally and/or internationally.
