Job Description:
Effectively manage communications and marketing for Rockefeller College and the School of Criminal Justice. Increase the visibility of Rockefeller College and the School of Criminal Justice to internal and external stakeholders including leaders at other schools of public affairs, state government, prospective and current students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and the community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the design and content of College/School print materials including brochures, newsletters, magazines, invitations, and advertisements; write and edit creative copy used to publicize the College and events.
- Plan, direct and manage the initiatives, growth and continued development of the Rockefeller College and the School of Criminal Justice website as a tool for marketing the College/School to its various constituencies. Create and implement systems of quality control for the ongoing maintenance of the website.
- Work with stakeholders to build the Rockefeller College and School of Criminal Justice brand.
- Work with College leadership on a comprehensive communications and marketing plan that seeks to raise visibility and addresses internal and external concerns.
- Manage the publication of a bi-annual news magazine, a monthly Rockefeller College e-newsletter, and a bi-annual School of Criminal Justice e-newsletter, which includes writing and editing articles, finding and producing appropriate photographs, and supervising the layout and distribution to alumni, peer institutions and other stakeholders.
- Manage and extend the reach of the College/School social media platforms.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff and the University's Office of Communication and Marketing to effectively place news and features with public media outlets and in on-campus media.
- Working with the University's Office of Communication and Marketing, lead the strategy development and delivery of digital marketing campaigns and support the production of electronic media and videos for the promotional and educational goals of the College/School.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
- Reports to the Assistant Dean
- Collaborates with all Rockefeller College and School of Criminal Justice faculty and staff, all OCM staff, communications and other professionals across the university, as needed
- Supervises the following positions: None
- May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling position)
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent writing and graphic design skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Experience with social media and electronic communication platforms
- Ability to think creatively and analytically to find the best way to convey a message to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in public relations, marketing, or a related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
- Masters degree in public relations, marketing, or a related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Senior Staff Assistant, SL-3, $58,000-$62,000
