This post is offered on a hybrid basis, some time working on St Luke’s campus and some from home, although for the right candidate remote working would be considered. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours (minimum 0.8FTE).
Summary of the role
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences wishes to recruit a Stakeholder Engagement and Impact Manager to support the work of the National Institute of Health Research Policy Research Unit in Dementia and Neurodegeneration, University of Exeter (known as DeNPRU Exeter) https://denpruexeter.nihr.ac.uk/. This post is available from 26th May 2025 for a fixed term of one year to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will oversee stakeholder engagement for DeNPRU Exeter, largely through the management and evolution of our existing Knowledge Exchange Community. They will also be responsible for deriving maximum impact from DeNPRU Exeter outputs by managing the needs of concurrent policy research projects.
The post will include:
- Organising and running online stakeholder consultations and workshops, and public webinars
- Working closely with project leads from collaborating universities to operationalise project stakeholder and impact strategies
- Communicating at a high level textually, verbally and visually
- Creating presentations, reports and other outputs which maximise the reach of DeNPRU Exeter’s work
The successful applicant will be able to sustain and cultivate long-lasting relationships with a range of stakeholders, from professionals working across the health and social care systems, or relevant third-sector organisations, to experts by experience affected in diverse ways by different neurodegenerative conditions.
Applicants will possess a relevant degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be an authority on stakeholder management and/or impact, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the area to influence stakeholder strategy for individual DeNPRU Exeter projects. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, take independent initiative and prepare public-facing outputs as required.
Candidates will be expected to be motivated and demonstrate good knowledge of the policy area, possess excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative spirit, combined with an ability to think carefully about their work. The successful applicant will also be able to supervise the work of others as required. Experience of working with experts by experience (sometimes known as co-production or Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement, PPIE) would be an advantage.
In addition, the candidate will:
- possess a keen interest in the experience of living with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions and all those who support people living with these conditions
- be fluent in running both Zoom and Teams meetings, and presenting to a range of audiences
- possess good time management skills and the ability to prioritise and work independently

The starting salary will be from £42,882 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience
