Reporting to the Vice Provost & University Dean for Enrollment Management, Dr. Robert J. Alexander, the new admissions leader will further the current forward momentum in enrollment and provide strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of the undergraduate recruitment, selection, and admissions process. The AVP will serve as a key member of the Enrollment division senior management team, contributing to the development of strategies and initiatives to identify, secure, and strengthen Rochester's market position as a leading private research university, and one of the very few that meets demonstrated financial need AND offers merit scholarships (including for international students). Substantial experience with contemporary admissions practices and a demonstrated deep knowledge of market trends in higher education are essential.
The AVP will develop and refine innovative strategies to ensure the successful identification, recruitment, selection, and matriculation of students to Rochester and achieve the institutional enrollment goals set forth by the president, senior leadership, and the Board of Trustees. The AVP will supervise, manage, motivate, and develop a large, diverse, and complex team of ~38 highly skilled admissions and enrollment professionals, including six direct reports and a robust regional staff, and support their development. The position is responsible for an operating budget of over $6.7 M.

Boasting a 9:1 student-to-faculty ration, Rochester is home to over 12,000 students – 6,600 undergraduates and 5,400 graduates, approximately 3,800+ of which are international students from over 130+ countries. The University offers 200+ degree programs across seven schools spread throughout five campuses.

Ideal candidates will bring comprehensive experience and understanding of all facets of admissions that includes knowledge of industry best practices and how demographic trends impact institutional strategic decisions. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible college admissions experience is expected, preferably within a private, highly selective, and complex university environment, as is a minimum of five years of leadership experience. It is preferred that candidates have experience with managing a remote or hybrid staff that includes regional counselors. Previous supervisory experience and a master's degree are required.

The expected compensation range for the Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment position is an annual salary of between $122,044 to $183,065, commensurate with experience. The referenced pay range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience, and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
