Job Summary:The Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering is seeking a Director of the Engineering Innovation Center. This is a significant leadership position that will oversee all facets of operating the Innovation Center, including budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning, as well as day-to-day operations including scheduling, equipment maintenance, safety, and supervisory responsibility for the Innovation Center’s staff and large team of student workers.
This position will work with program directors across all undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the college to provide support for integrating Innovation Center projects and training into engineering curriculum as well as to provide direct research and facilities support to faculty.
The director should have the necessary educational and/or industry background to hold a joint faculty appointment within the college, in support of both First Year Engineering (FYE) and Transition to Engineering (T2E) programs. The position will work closely with college leadership to identify opportunities for strategic growth, including development of industrial partnerships, expansion of research-facing facilities and equipment, and new curricular and co-curricular initiatives to support programs, students, and student organizations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with and managing professional and student teams in a hands-on laboratory or makerspace environment, technical background and knowledge of a wide range of prototyping facilities and equipment, and significant teaching and leadership experience in a higher education or industry setting.
