The School of Law seeks to appoint a suitably qualified early-career academic to a fixed-term, three-year Lectureship in Legal Theory and the Philosophy of Law (Research & Teaching Track), starting from 1st September 2025.
This position is to cover Professor George Pavlakos while he is on leave, funded by a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship. The postholder will develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international standard and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by delivering, organising and reviewing agreed teaching, assessment and administration processes to enhance learning and teaching in the School of Law.
We welcome applications from candidates with a strong record in the research interests of the grant holder and, more broadly, those of the Glasgow Legal Theory research group. The successful candidate will join the Glasgow Legal Theory Group, a leading community of legal theory in the UK and internationally. The group has strong interdisciplinary links with the department of philosophy and together they have established the Glasgow Law and Philosophy Network. The post will offer many opportunities to engage in research-led teaching and assume a central role in our signature Joint Honours degree in Law & Philosophy.

The postholder will contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes, to undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline, and to undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term for up to 3-years.
