About the role
The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine seeks to appoint a Learning Technologist (secondment post) to be part of the team providing day to day support and expertise in technology-enhanced learning (TEL).
Adopting a proactive and flexible approach, the postholder will be responsible for the support of related Faculty business processes (coordination, development and scheduling of learning content, including video content and production), providing support to facilitate the delivery of the undergraduate medical programme in different clinical settings and in the community as well as wider faculty programmes as required. Supporting with the design and development and rollout of assessment processes.
You will have a proven ability in providing TEL and VLE support (Moodle or equivalent VLE), delivering e-assessment solutions, video and content production, delivering academic and professional services staff development training within this area and a track record of utilising TEL within a higher education context.
You will have a degree relevant to Learning Technology or a related field (or significant equivalent relevant work experience). The successful candidate will have a passion for technology enhanced learning and will be able to inspire and drive continuous improvement.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) in hybrid working pattern, fixed term until 29/04/2026.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Expertise in learning technologies (e.g., e-assessment, web technologies, media, e-Portfolios), Office 365, web development (HTML, CSS), and multimedia production (Adobe CC, Kaltura)
- Deep understanding of online education pedagogy, curriculum design, A.I., and how technology facilitates learning
- Significant experience with Moodle (or equivalent VLE), including support of all assessment processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying complex information to diverse audiences
- Excellent understanding of user needs and experience, with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity including UX and UI
- Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver projects independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure to meet defined Faculty priorities
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Positive and proactive work ethic with the ability to self-motivate and work effectively within a diverse team
Desirable criteria
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues throughout the Faculty and wider University
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations as appropriate relating to their application for learning, teaching and research
- Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development (e.g. CMALT, HEA)
- Experience of designing, developing and running training/ CPD sessions
£44,105 to £51,485 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
