Description
Position Overview
This is an entry-level temporary part-time position that is not eligible to accrue sick leave or vacation. Up to 20 hours per week; schedule varies. This position will assist their respective sport program with planning and conducting training sessions, providing coaching and instruction to student athletes, coordinating practices, games and other events, and ensuring compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Assist with planning, organizing and conducting practice sessions to prepare student-athletes for intercollegiate competition.
Assist with coaching and instructing student-athletes to increase their knowledge and understanding of the sport, increase their skill level, and to educate them in the rules, strategies, techniques, and principles relevant to their particular sport.
Assist with the education and enforcement of safety rules and regulations as well as the enforcement of NCAA rules and regulations.
Assist with the coordination, setup, etc. of games and other special events. Offer game-day assistance: Working nights, weekends, and holidays is a possible function of this position.
Assist coaching staff and athletic administration with various other duties to support the operations of their teams and the athletic department.
Provide quality customer service to alumni, fans, and constituents, and conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Must have a strong desire to learn.
- Experience either playing or coaching.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong initiative to solve problems.
- Communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with diverse populations in the Department, the University, and the community.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment.
- Ability to gain and maintain working knowledge of university, MIAA, and NCAA DII rules and regulations.
