We are seeking a HR Generalist who will be responsible for day-to-day administration of HR policies and programs covering several or all the following: recruitment, compensation, benefits, training and education, employee and labor relations, safety, risk management, diversity awareness, and records administration.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- Serve as subject matter expert and provide advice or guidance to departmental/divisional clientele. Keep current on emerging HR issues, best practices, and trends, identify areas of concern, and recommend/implement solutions.
- Recommend and implement proactive strategies/programs designed to resolve HR issues (staffing needs, employment/hiring issues, structure, etc.).
- Conduct exit interviews for terminating or transferring employees.
- Participate in the grievance process through investigation and fact-finding; advise management on progressive discipline and/or performance management issues, offering recommendations. Gather sensitive information as part of the grievance process, disciplinary action, and other personnel matters. May compose disciplinary letters in consultation with the General Counsel as needed.
- Educate managers, supervisors, and faculty in counseling, conflict resolution, and documentation methods, and raise awareness of risk assessment and compliance issues.
- Develop and generate regular and/or ad-hoc reports. Approve SAP transactions.
- Support departmental HR needs to ensure that all matters related to payroll and benefits are accurate and challenges are addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field.
- Three years of progressive experience in a professional human resources capacity
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with employee relations matters and strong working knowledge of all related compliance regulations

Education and Experience Equivalency

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination.
