The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) encompasses a wide range of fields in creative and media industries, including film, animation, digital arts and immersive media, museums and curating, and art history. We offer broad theoretical study and practical training for students seeking careers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area's burgeoning creative and media industries. DACI currently offers three Undergraduate programmes, BA (Hons) Aminations and Digital Arts, BA (Hons) in Creative Media Industries and BA (Hons) in Film and Visual Arts, and two taught master programmes, MA in Creative and Media Industries (MACMI) and MA in Curating and Art History (MACAH). The BA in ADA offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to creative arts education that fosters innovative thinking and creativity. Students of this programme learns fundamental knowledge and professional skills in animation and digital arts. To facilitate our programme development and other new initiatives, DACI is inviting applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate/ Assistant Professor to contribute to teaching and research in Arts and Technology and to teach at least three or more of the following modules: Interactive Arts, Expanded Reality, Animation Workshop, and New Media Storytelling. Moreover, the appointee is expected 1. to supervise student final projects; 2. to develop innovative research projects and generate research outputs with high impact; and 3. to contribute to service and development of the Department.
Requirements
Applicants for the position should have:
- A PhD degree in arts and technology, interactive and emerging media, animation or a relevant discipline.
- A publication record in peer-reviewed journals of good international standing.
- A track record in teaching courses on arts and technology, immersive media (VR/AR), or animation studies and industries.
- Good ability in handling academic administration and strong commitment to knowledge transfer, community engagement and related activities.
Candidates are required to provide information about their research records and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals of good international standing and/or university presses.
Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on a renewable contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointments with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
