The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Student Recruitment, the Manager, Recruitment & Outreach works closely with the Assistant Director and other members of the student recruitment and admissions team to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to assist U of T Mississauga in achieving its enrolment goals by reaching a diverse prospective student base through outreach and recruitment activities. The Manager will collate, analyze and implement strategies and programs that have been successful in promoting post-secondary education, outreach and enrichment, and student recruitment directed at expanding the strategic enrolment funnel to first-entry undergraduate programs at UTM. The incumbent will work closely with schools and school board representatives, community groups, and international pathway programs within Canada to increase their engagement with U of T Mississauga. The Manager will develop partnerships, resources and initiatives to engage community groups and school-based programs, building and maintaining relationships, knowledge and data related to outreach, student recruitment, yield, and anti-melt.
Working as a member of the Student Recruitment and Admissions team the Manager, Recruitment & Outreach contributes to overall U of T Mississauga recruitment and admission objectives through the delivery of timely and accurate student-focused service. The Manager's key responsibilities include overseeing national recruitment & outreach plans, developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships both internal and external to UTM, developing counsellor and community focused roundtables to support UTM recruitment & outreach, promoting U of T Mississauga and U of T at recruitment & outreach events, advising and responding to inquiries from prospective students, their families and guidance counsellors. Additionally, the Manager will support the assessment of applications for pathways, outreach, and access programs in accordance with admission policies and enrolment goals, applying knowledge of both Canadian and international credentials. The Manager will monitor, evaluate and prepare statistical reports on recruitment and admissions to enhance strategies for reaching and supporting diverse student populations.
The Manager, Recruitment & Outreach conducts several presentations ina day lifting and carrying of promotion materials, equipment set-up and extensive travel is required in the recruitment months (trips of up to one week at a time). Flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends throughout the year is required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing complex statistical information for inclusion in recruitment plans
- Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
- Keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Delivering student recruitment presentations
- Interpreting academic regulations, program and degree requirements
- Analyzing market data to determine trends and effectiveness of programs and initiatives
- Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum four years experience in a university undergraduate student services environment
- Experience establishing and steering relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience advising and presenting to diverse prospective student groups on undergraduate admission requirements
- Experience in large scale/divisional undergraduate student recruitment and admissions
- Experience working with under-represented groups and equity initiatives with a strong understanding of issues and challenges facing these groups
- Experience with data collection, analysis and reporting
- Strong understanding of the post-secondary educational landscape in Canada, knowledgeable about university life and student recruitment and admissions, including provincial, national and international university and college education systems
- Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service and advising experience with a proven record of tact, diplomacy and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in student information and customer relationship systems, Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel
- Excellent analytical and interpretive skills with the ability to understand and apply a larger amount of information and complex set of regulations and guidelines with minimal supervision
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure within a rapidly changing environment to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to travel independently, valid driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle
