As our Purchasing Officer, you will be at the heart of the LMB’s Laboratory Services and Purchasing team, ensuring our scientists and support departments have the items they need to perform their roles. You will be instrumental in keeping our purchasing and procurement operations running seamlessly while contributing to initiatives that drive world-class scientific research.
What You’ll Do
- Be the go-to expert for our Laboratory Services and Purchasing helpdesk, efficiently managing enquiries and supporting requests.
- Oversee receipting processes for Laboratory Services, particularly for intangible goods.
- Facilitate procurement for scientific instrumentation, service contracts, and operational needs across the LMB.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives, including capital projects and minor equipment purchases.
- Provide a streamlined credit card purchasing service and process requests in line with policy.
- Manage contracts for multifunctional office devices and address purchasing-related challenges.
- Lead imports of scientific instrumentation and goods, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
- Conduct vendor research and maintain a robust supplier database for cost-effective procurement.
- Maintain accurate records, central systems, and audit readiness to ensure compliance and efficiency.
About You
You’re someone who:
- Has experience in purchasing or administrative roles, ideally in a scientific or research setting.
- Experience of managing technical data in a complex working environment
- Brings exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills to the table.
- Has experience in procurement and excels at customer service and problem-solving.
- Thrives on collaboration, with a proactive and customer-focused mindset.
- Is skilled in record-keeping and systems management, with an eye for detail and accuracy.

£29,552 to £31,318. Starting Salary per annum
