Job Summary:The College of Agriculture and Applied Science is seeking to hire a post-doctoral research associate for a position focused on laboratory and field research and extension activities related to sustainable agricultural production under a changed environment.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge: The successful candidate will have broad knowledge of ecology, environmental and sustainable agriculture, emphasizing plant and soil sciences, plant ecology, soil chemistry, and agroecology. Additionally, the incumbent should have a practical background in application of latest agricultural technologies for the improvement of sustainable agriculture production.
- Skills: The incumbent will be able to use analytical techniques such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to detect chemicals and compound in plant, soil, and microbe samples; the candidate will have experience in crop cultivation, experimental design and crop variety trial assistance. The incumbent is able to use chemical and biochemical methods for the analysis of plant, soil and agricultural products.
- Abilities: The incumbent has demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with faculty, students, and industry-professionals. The incumbent will be capable of working with graduate students, participating in proposal writing, conducting research, analyzing data, and writing reports and publications.
Essential Job Functions :- Designs and conducts plant and soil experiments, plant and animal products analysis studies.
- Assists Principal Investigator (PI) with the development and implementation of research projects involving plants, soil and agricultural products studies.
- Prepares manuscripts and publishes peer-reviewed journals.
- Makes presentations and attends professional conferences.
- Guides graduate and undergraduate students.
- Actively seeks external grants to support research.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:- Ph.D. in Ecology, environmental science, or closely related field.
- Working and teaching experience in higher education setting.
- 2 years’ experience managing comprehensive agricultural projects.
- 4 years’ experience working with soil and agriculture, with a particular focus on soil and crop management, formula fertilization techniques, biochemistry, and soil chemistry.
- Minimum of three senior authorship peer-reviewed publications in a reputable journal.
