Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:Under general supervision is responsible for directing, implementing, collaborating, and monitoring services and promotes the persistence, academic standing, and graduation rates of college students from one academic year to the next. The Director will provide leadership to enhance student support services with campus partners to include but not limited to Enrollment management, Financial Aid, Military and Veteran Affairs, Registrar, Disability Services, and Career Services.
This is a Grant Funded position.
Essential Duties Summary:- Directs Student Life programs and activities related to student Veterans, Veteran affiliated students and their experience at Texas Southern University with the goal to transition students from military to civilian life and prepare them for their career after college.
- Provides direct service to students aimed at increasing retention, completion, improving satisfaction, and enhancing overall success through responding to referrals from university departments. Collaborates/coordinates with other program areas on activities to enhance the holistic wellbeing of student Veterans.
- Acts as a liaison for Military and Veteran students to university stakeholders including but not limited to Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid and Student Accounting.
- Refers Military and Veteran students to University resources such as disability services, Counseling, Student Health Center, Residential Life and Housing, etc.
- Manages the Veterans Center and provides oversight of the daily operations, including the selection, supervision and evaluation of the Center’s student staff.
- Monitors and tracks the needs of the current student Veteran population; uses assessment to recommend new initiatives according to the identified needs, effective services at other institutions, and available services in the community for Veterans.
- Serves as the professional staff advisor to student veteran organizations.
- Leads assigned activities, promotional efforts and the Center’s programming. Collects data and reports on programming and operational assessment.
- Establishes relationships with Houston area community college transfer centers and counseling staff, community veteran organization leaders and university alumni.
- Assists in the solicitation of grants and donations to support Military and Veteran students, programs and the Center’s operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:$74,879.81 - $95,471.75
Education:Master’s degree. Master’s degree in social work preferred.
Required Licensing/Certification:Veteran; Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.

Work Experience:Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience. At least two years of supervisory experience.
