The role
We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to support the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Dementia Capacity Building Programme (DEM-COMM). This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in developing grant applications and undertaking systematic reviews. The post holder will work with three post-doctoral DEM-COMM Fellows based at NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) West.
The role will involve conducting patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) activities, undertaking literature reviews, and potentially collecting pilot research data. This will contribute to a competitive grant application that we intend to submit to extend the success of the dementia programme. The post-holder may also have the opportunity to contribute to other applied dementia research studies.
What will you be doing?
- Undertake a systematic review of the experience of people living with dementia
- Meet regularly with the academic leads to discuss progress
- Write papers for academic journal publication
- Present findings at conferences/events
- Conduct PPIE activities to support the development of a competitive grant application
- Support the development of grant applications
- If the role requires, undertake qualitative research to support a grant application
- Undertake administrative work related to the research role
- There are no formal teaching responsibilities, however, the post holder may have the opportunity to contribute to teaching in ARC West and Bristol Medical School
You should apply if
- You have enthusiasm for and interest in dementia research
- You have experience in literature reviewing and evidence synthesis
- You have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant health or social science discipline (medical anthropology, medical sociology, psychology, nursing and allied health professions, economics)
AND
- Relevant postgraduate masters (for example: public health, health economics, health psychology, research methods, evidence synthesis) or equivalent professional research experience
