About the role:
We are currently seeking a Trainee Lecturer in Health and Social Care to join our Care, Childcare and Counselling department at The Bedford College group.
As a Trainee Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Preparing, delivering, assessing and verifying subject specialisms on a range of courses from Level 1 to Level 5.
- Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their potential.
- Managing students’ learning and providing a high-quality learning experience.
- Contributing pro-actively to developments in the college and in curriculum development and innovative teaching.
- Teaching effectively on a range of programmes, levels and qualification types recognising and meeting students’ individual needs.
- Preparing schemes of work which are up to date and fully meet the requirements of awarding bodies.
- Researching, developing and effectively implementing new learning materials in a variety of media to engage students in learning.
- Assessing students’ work effectively to meet awarding body standards and carrying out verification and moderation.
- Monitoring and recording students’ progress and taking action to ensure students meet required standards and deadlines.
- Meeting assessment deadlines as set by the awarding body and the college
- Preparing a variety of reports and maintaining records on students’ progress and performance
- Participating in effective internal quality assurance and other quality procedures.
- Maintaining records on students’ progress and performance, communicating in a timely manner to the Course Manager, Centre Manager or Head of Department where there are issues / concerns.
About you:
- Hold a Health and Social Care related qualification at Level 3 and above or equivalent in related subject area
- Have English and mathematics or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent
- Be willing to work towards a Certificate in Education
- Have vocational experience in Health and Social care
- Have knowledge of the current developments in own specialist area
- Possess the ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and work effectively to deadlines
- Possess the ability to achieve positive working relationships with staff cross-College
- Possess the ability to demonstrate commitment to own continuing professional development
- Have a flexible approach to work and working times
