Job Title:Chief Operating Officer, Federally Qualified Health CentersDepartment:Nursing | College Administration
The College of Nursing is located on the largest health sciences campus in the country and is one of seven health science schools at Ohio State with outstanding collaborations with the world-renowned Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center. The college offers robust top nationally ranked programs in nursing pre-licensure education, an accelerated second-degree entry program, several master’s specialties, and PhD and DNP programs, as well as inter-professional degrees in wellness and health coaching, health innovation, and clinical research management. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for developing and forecasting a budget that services over 15,000 patients in multiple Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). This role reports directly to the FQHC CEO. This is a highly visible and high impact position that works to build models of care to serve at risk populations across the State of Ohio.
The Chief Operating Officer is part of the FQHC’s senior leadership team and is responsible for: (1) overseeing all operational aspects of Total Health and Wellness medical clinics, facilities, and patient-facing services; (2) developing and implementing the strategic objectives that promote operational efficiencies, enhance the profitability of the organization and develop and support expansion opportunities; (3) in partnership with CEO, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that are fully responsive to the needs of patients and their families; and (4) in the event that the CEO is not available, the COO may be the acting CEO as needed.
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Health Care Administration, and 7 years of relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
12-15 years of relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated ability in university budget management with a clinical emphasis is desired. RN License preferred. The candidate must have a record of progressive leadership abilities, demonstrated oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Previous experience leading a Federally Qualified Health Center is highly desirable.
On-going: Competency in PC-based networks and related software (e.g. Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint skills are desirable). Evidence of organizational skills, interpersonal skills, decision-making skills, customer relations, written and verbal communications, effective problem solving, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Must be able to establish and build relationships across a broad range of people and groups both within and outside the university. Demonstrate competence to meet performance expectations.
