The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced and well-motivated bioinformatician, interested in bringing their computational expertise to cutting edge, biomedical sequencing projects.

This is an opportunity to play critical roles in a variety of collaborative sequence analysis efforts in large cancer cohort projects. You will join an experienced and well-resourced group within an extended community of computational biologists at IGC, and work with multidisciplinary teams involving clinicians and experimentalists active in cancer research. The position is for 2 years initially, with likely extension beyond this point.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

The salary for this post is £40,247 - £47,874 per annum.

Your skills and attributes for success:

PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science or a closely related discipline (or near completion)
Research experience in computational biology, particularly projects generating novel insights into medical genomics or cancer.
Published experience in the analysis of high throughput biological datasets.
Programming experience in Linux/UNIX environments.
Strong analytical and statistical skills in R.

£40,247 to £47,874 per annum (Grade 7)
